Kambo · The Jungle Detox
Not a trend. A discipline.
A traditional Amazonian cleansing medicine, applied with full screening, guidance, and aftercare.
What Is Kambo
A physical and
energetic cleanse,
used for centuries.
Kambo is the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor tree frog, used for centuries by Indigenous groups of the Amazon basin as a physical and energetic cleanse. It’s applied to small surface burns on the skin, entering the lymphatic system directly.
People use Kambo to work with:
- Physical detoxification and immune-system support
- Breaking through stagnation — physical, energetic, or emotional
- Discipline and resilience-building through a genuinely intense physical process
Be direct with yourself about this one: Kambo is physically demanding. Most people purge during the process — this is expected and part of how the medicine works, not a side effect to be avoided.
The Ceremony
What a session
actually involves
Plan for the rest of the day to be light — this is not a “get a treatment and go back to work” session.
Intake & screening
Health history, current medications, and the contraindications below are reviewed before anything else happens. This is not optional and not a formality.
Preparation
You’ll be asked to fast beforehand (typically 8–12 hours) and hydrate well in the days prior.
Application
Small surface burns (points), the Kambo secretion is applied, and the physical process unfolds — heat, pressure, and purging are all common and expected.
Rest & aftercare
You stay under supervision until you’re steady, hydrated, and ready to leave.
Who This Is Not Safe For
Screening is where this
work begins.
This section exists because Kambo carries real physiological risk for certain people. I screen for all of this before booking — if any of these apply to you, I will not administer Kambo, and I’ll say so directly rather than make an exception.
If you’re unsure whether something on your health history applies, tell me on the discovery call before we book anything. This is the one place on the entire site where “let’s just try it and see” is not the right approach.
Kambo Is Contraindicated For Anyone With
- Heart conditions, including arrhythmia, or a history of heart attack or stroke
- Current pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Addison’s disease or other adrenal insufficiency
- Any organ transplant
- Epilepsy or seizure disorders
- Currently taking MAOIs or certain other medications that interact with Kambo
- Recent major surgery
- Severely low blood pressure, or currently being treated for it

Questions
Frequently asked
Will I definitely purge?
Most people do; it's a normal and expected part of the process, not a sign anything went wrong.
How do I prepare?
Fast for 8–12 hours beforehand, hydrate well in the days leading up, and avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior.
Is this legal / regulated?
Kambo is legal in the U.S. and unregulated as a medical treatment — it's offered here as a traditional wellness practice, not a medical procedure, per the screening and disclaimer process above
Can I drive myself home after?
Most people are fine to drive after the rest period, but plan for a low-key rest of the day regardless.
